Integrative Somatic Psychotherapy for Healing, Connection, and Wholeness

When we experience trauma, stress, or disconnection, our bodies hold the story, even when our minds try to move on. Healing happens when our body and mind work together to restore internal balance. Using an integrative approach to psychotherapy with the body mind connection as its foundation, Dove Counseling supports you to reconnect with your body’s wisdom, release old patterns of protection, and create space for ease, resilience, and authentic self-expression.

In our demanding and ever changing world, we all need a home within ourselves, a quiet center that remains steady, a sanctuary you can always return to. Trauma, disconnection, chronic stress and overwhelm can leave our body and mind feeling like a place of turmoil and discomfort rather than a place of retreat.

Together, we can create a space of curiosity and compassion to help identify and change the patterns of thinking, feeling and responding getting in the way of your most satisfying life. You will create a sanctuary within yourself that is a place of connection and understanding for you to come home to.

Josie Dove in the trial garden at CSU

I am Josie Dove, licensed professional counselor in Fort Collins, Colorado. Drawing on over 20 years of experience, I offer in-person and online psychotherapy for individuals and couples, as well as consultation and training for mental health professionals. Every person is unique and an effective therapeutic approach honors the dynamic needs of each client. I draw on a wide variety of therapeutic modalities to create an individualized approach to therapy tailored to meet you where you are at. I focus on practical application of treatments grounded in neuroscience to help improve relationships, overcome trauma and return to a sense of well-being.

The Lotus

A powerful symbol of resilience, the lotus flower inspires and reflects my therapeutic philosophy.

The lotus has adapted to not only survive but to thrive in dark, murky and stagnant waters-rising from the muddy waters to bloom, pure and fragrant in the light. Its beauty emerges not despite the darkness below, but because of it, reminding us that darkness and hardship can be the very ground from which transformation and strength are born. We cannot control the harms of the world but we have the power to transform those very wounds into our strength and growth. This philosophy guides the compassion, respect and hope at the foundation of my approach to therapy.

“We must never forget that we may also find meaning in life even when confronted with a hopeless situation, when facing a fate that cannot be changed. For what then matters is to bear witness to the uniquely human potential at its best, which is to transform a personal tragedy into triumph. When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves.”

― Viktor E. Frankl
